About · Who & why

The Project.

Kin is Kin is an independent music & art project from Berlin — ambient, dub techno and downtempo made by humans, shared with humans, off the algorithmic grid.

We left the streaming economy to make the kind of work that can’t be made on a treadmill of metrics.

A Kin is Kin session
Berlin · independent since day one

Kin is Kin began as a refusal. A refusal of surveillance feeds, of music as content, of art shaped by what an algorithm decides to reward. We wanted somewhere to put the work that felt like home — so we built one.

What lives here is the sound of three siblings: Ambisolace, deep-listening ambient built live from field recordings and granular texture; Endloswelle, dub techno performed after hours in endless waves of delay; and Hubrist, cinematic downtempo for the slow hours.

Alongside the records, the Department of Inspirado is our lab notebook — tutorials, free tools, album-in-a-day challenges and one-off bands, all made in public. What we learn, we share. And the Kinfolk Creator’s Circle is the room where the people who care about this gather to make things together.

No gatekeepers. No algorithms. No surveillance. Just kin sharing sound with kin.

What we stand for

/ the short version
01 / Human-made

Made by people, for people

Every note and every image is human-made — no work created in part or whole by generative AI. We think doing it ourselves is more fun.

02 / Off the grid

Off Spotify, off surveillance

We stepped away from the streaming machine. No metrics treadmill, no data harvesting — music that answers to listeners, not algorithms.

03 / Open-source

What we learn, we share

The Department of Inspirado gives away the racks, the techniques and the thinking. Generosity is the point, not the marketing.

04 / Kin, not customers

Community over audience

We’d rather have a small room of kin than a stadium of strangers. Come make something with us.

Music made by humans, for humans. No algorithms, no surveillance feeds — just kin sharing sound with kin.
